What's Cub Scouts?
Cub Scouting is for everyone (K-5th grade!)
In Cub Scouting you’ll have lots of fun, adventure, and activities with your den and pack. But there’s more to it than that. Being a Cub Scout means you are a member of a worldwide youth movement that stands for certain values and beliefs. Cub Scouting is more than something to do. It’s all about the person you are and the person you will become. Cub Scouts involve a variety of family activities that encourage good behavior, teach lifelong values, strengthens family bonds, and Cub Scouting is always fun!
What’s the Purpose of Cub Scouts?
- Positively influence character development and encourage spiritual growth
- Help the youth develop habits and attitudes of good citizenship
- Encourage good sportsmanship and pride in growing strong in mind and body
- Improve understanding within the family
- Strengthen a youth’s ability to get along with others and respect other people
- Foster a sense of personal achievement by helping them develop new interests and skills

What Type of Kids are in Cub Scouts?
All Types! All Kids (K-5th Grade) are welcome in Cub Scouts!
We’re Already So Busy!
Will my child have to quit sports, school clubs, etc?
No Way! Unlike other extra curricular activities, Cub Scouts is designed to fit your busy family schedule. Is it baseball or basketball season? No Problem! We encourage our Scouts to do other things outside of Scouting, like join sports team, school clubs, or get involved in their church or community. Cub Scouts follows the school calendar and because you determine the pace and involvement of your child, Cub Scouting is flexible and can easily be integrated into your forever changing life style.
Is There More Information for Parents?

Cub Scouts is a large program, so we created a Parent Guide to help answer any questions you may have. Remember, every Cub Scout’s journey is different. In the end, The Cub Scout program helps youth develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership skills, and citizenship skills that go on to influence their adult lives. In Cub Scouts children make friends, develop skills, try new things, and much more!

Is There Financial Assistance?
Scouting has an annual membership/insurance fee that is less than $10 per month. For a new Cub Scout this is $96 per year. Individual packs might have some small additional costs to cover events, activities or other necessary items for program. The character development, leadership and life skills that are taught in Cub Scouting are too important for money to stand in the way of a child participating. We offer financial assistance to those that needs it. This form can be filled out electronically and emailed to Matt Nash at matt.nash@scouting.org.

Are all Cub Scouts the Same Rank?
On the advancement trail, a Cub Scout progresses from rank to rank, learning new skills as he goes. Each of the ranks and awards in Cub Scouting has its own requirements. As you advance through the ranks, the requirements get more challenging, to match the new skills and abilities you learn as you get older.

Yes! Through the Cub to Webelos Camping Program
Organized camping is a creative, educational experience in cooperative group living in the outdoors. It uses the natural surroundings to contribute significantly to physical, mental, spiritual, and social growth.

Yes! But not all the time.
As a Cub Scout you’ll get your very own uniform! You’ll also get many other things like hats, t-shirts, socks, and a belt. Uniforms help to create a sense of belonging. They symbolize character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness. Wearing a uniform gives youth and adult members a sense of identification and commitment.
What are the Cub Scout Meetings like?
Meetings are fun and provide time for connection
Cub Scouting’s volunteer leaders work with kids and their families to improve their communities by enriching the lives of the families who live there. Cub Scout leaders support the family. They take an active part in helping to strengthen families and their kids by providing a fun-filled, worthwhile program that teaches values.

Cub Scout Recruitment Takes Place Every Fall!
The Cub Scout Program follows the school calendar. This makes it very easy for families to enter into CubScouts and when the time has come, also into Scouts BSA.

How is this Different from a Cub Scout?
The Webelos program has two major milestones – the Webelos rank badge to be earned around February of 4th grade and the Arrow of Light to be earned around February of 5th grade. The final part of Webelos is bridging over into a Boy Scout troop selected individually by the scout.
