Welcome to
Cub Scouting
Fun, adventure, and activities for youth in grades K-5! But there’s more to it than that.
What’s Cub Scouting?
In Cub Scouts, you’ll have lots of fun, adventure, and activities with your pack. But there’s more to it than that – being a Cub Scout means you are a member of a worldwide youth movement that stands for certain values and beliefs.
Cub Scouting is more than something to do. It’s all about the person you are and who you will become. Cub Scouts involve a variety of family activities that encourage good behavior, teach lifelong values, strengthen family bonds, and Cub Scouting is always fun!
Everyone is Welcome!
Cub Scouting is for everyone (K-5th grade)!
The Cub Scout culture is one of belonging, where everyone is respected and valued. In both Cub Scouts and Scouting, those of all backgrounds and abilities are welcome!
Everyone Belongs in Cub Scouts
Did you know that each Cub Scout pack is different? This means that a child can visit different packs and pick one that they feel most comfortable in.
All children and youth are welcome in Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, and Venturing! Cub Scouts is for those in Kindergarten – 5th grade, while Scouts BSA is for those who are 11-17 years old.
Common Questions
Will My Child Have to Quit Sports?
No Way! Unlike other extracurricular activities, Cub Scouts is designed to fit your busy family schedule.
We encourage our Scouts to do other things outside of Scouting, like sports teams, school clubs, or community involvement.
Do Cub Scouts Have Meetings?
When you join Cub Scouts, you’ll pick a pack or group of other Cub Scouts to join. Think of this group as your “family group”.
Your pack meets weekly or bi-weekly for fun activities, events, and friendship!
How Much Does Cub Scouts Cost?
Scouting has an annual membership/insurance fee that is less than $10 per month. For a new Cub Scout, the cost is $110 per year.
Individual packs might have some small additional costs or dues to cover events, activities, or other necessary items for program.
Financial Assistance Available
The character development, leadership, and life skills that are taught in Cub Scouting are too important for money to stand in the way of a child participating. We have never denied anyone participation due to funding.
If you are a Kentucky WellCare or United Healthcare Medicaid member, they will pay for your registration costs.
