Scout Leaders and Parents:

As a leadership organization, we want to do our best to assist with any potential spread of Coronavirus and keep our Scouting family and community healthy. We are following the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The Lincoln Heritage Council is closely monitoring developments and are taking the appropriate steps to help support the ongoing health and safety of our employees and Scouting families. Below are the details regarding our current service model and recommendations. We will continue to update and modify this information as often as needed.

Sam Swope Scout Service Center:

The Sam Swope Scout Service Center will close at the end of the day Monday, March 16, and remain closed through March 30. Beginning Tuesday, March 17, the Lincoln Heritage staff will operate remotely. Our staff will continue their dedicated work and will be available via email and phone for questions, and to assist you. Click Here to contact the field staff member that supports your local community.  If you need assistance, please call 502-361-2624 during business hours or email

Scout Shops:

All Scout Shops will close at the end of the day on March 16, and will remain closed through March 30. This closure will be re-evaluated, and a communication will be sent prior to March 30.  Please use for any immediate needs.

All three Lincoln Heritage Camps will be closed through March 30.

Unit/District/Council Meetings and Events:

We recommend you postpone meetings or switch to virtual gatherings utilizing conference calls or online video conferencing. Keep in close contact with your unit and district leadership to understand what has been postponed or shifted online.  Please consider ways you can move Scouting forward by using technology.

In the coming days we will send an additional communication with fun ways for families to continue their Scouting journey while children are not in school and unable to meet together. Many achievements can be earned at home.

Please also familiarize yourself with the CDC guidelines on how to limit the spread of the virus, here: CDC’s Preventing COVID-19 Spread in Communities .

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work together to be “helpful at all times.”

Yours in Scouting,

Jason Pierce
