2018 Popcorn Sale

Each year, Scouts from across the Council sell delicious Campmasters Popcorn to Fund Their Adventure. The annual Popcorn Sale provides a great opportunity for money earning projects, and is one of two fundraisers approved by our Council Executive Board where your Scouts are able to wear the Scout Uniform while selling and your Unit is not required to submit a Unit Money Earning Application.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

GETTING ON TO FORT KNOX!!! We highly recommended you go to Fort Knox or Fort Campbell between now and Patriot Games and get your vetting complete.  This will save you time!

All personnel are required to be vetted and issued a pass, unless they have a DoD Identification card or are 17 and under. Those personnel under the age of 18 and who will be driving must be vetted. All personnel that are 18 and older and do not have a DoD identification card must go to the Visitor Center for vetting. For those personnel that live outside of the commuting area and are not able to go to the Fort Knox Visitor Center we can Pre-Vet them to determine if access would be granted. It does not eliminate the requirement to stop at the Visitor Center to be registered for access to the post.

All pre-vetting forms can be emailed to: Benando, Jeremy J CIV USARMY IMCOM (US) <jeremy.j.benando.civ@mail.mil>

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)  December 2018

Purpose

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is designed to have youth staff teach leadership skills to youth participants. From beginning to end, it is a YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM!

NYLT is an exciting, action-packed program designed to provide youth members with leadership skills and experience they can use in their home troops and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others.

In 2003 and 2004, a task force of leadership experts and hundreds of Scouts, in pilot courses across the nation, reviewed and tested every aspect of the new NYLT syllabus, which incorporates the latest leadership ideas and presents fresh, vital and meaningful training for today's Scouts.

The NYLT course centers around the concepts of what a leader must BE, what he must KNOW, and what he must DO. The key elements are then taught with a clear focus on HOW TO. The skills come alive during the week as the patrol goes on a Quest for the Meaning of Leadership.

NYLT is a six-day course. Content is delivered in a troop and patrol outdoor setting with an emphasis on immediate application of learning in a fun environment. Interconnecting concepts and work processes are introduced early, built upon, and aided by the use of memory aids, which allows participants to understand and employ the leadership skills much faster.

The new NYLT integrates the best of modern leadership theory with the traditional strengths of the Scouting experience. Through activities, presentations, challenges, discussions, and audio-visual support, NYLT participants will be engaged in a unified approach to leadership that will give them the skill and confidence to lead well. Through a wide range of activities, games, and adventures, participants will work and play together as they put into action the best Scouting has to offer.

Attendee Requirements

  • Youth must be registered Scouts ages 13+ (by course dates), who have attended a week long Scout camp.
  • Scouts are (or will be) First Class Rank by the course date.
  • The Scout must be recommended by the Scoutmaster.
  • Participants must attend all 6 days.
  • Venturerers who have completed ILSC.

Learning Objectives

The NYLT course centers around the concepts of what a leader must BE, KNOW, and DO. The key elements are then taught with a clear focus on HOW TO. The skills come alive during the week as the patrol goes on a Quest for the Meaning of Leadership.
