Recharter FAQ
Q: What is the difference between the buttons First Time User and Returning User?
A: First-Time User takes the user through the RP (registration process). This is the choice users should make if they haven't previously registered as the Internet Rechartering RP. Returning User takes the user to the Log-in page. This is the button to use if he/she is already registered as the RP and, has a password.
Q: I am the processor for another unit. Should I choose First-Time User or Returning User?
A: The user will have to go through the First- Time User process for each unit for which the user is the RP, because he/she is registering as a unit member and the unit for Internet Rechartering. For example, Bob is the RP for the pack and a troop. Registering for the pack does not register the troop in any way. Bob will still have to go through the First-Time User link to register the unit and himself as the RP.
Q: I lost my access code. What can I do?
A: Your District Registrar will have the access codes for your district for each unit.
Q: When registering new adult members, why are social security number requirements different for new members versus existing members?
A: For youth safety, the BSA performs a background check on any new adult volunteer. The SSN is required to facilitate this background check. Existing volunteers in a unit have been "grandfathered in" without the background check and therefore do not require an SSN. However, if the adult is moving up to the troop or district level or any other unit in which he/she was not currently registered, he/she will need to complete an adult application with the SSN on the application, on which a criminal background check will be conducted.
Q: I forgot my password. What do I do?
A: The user should select the Forgot Password? link. The National office will assign a new password
